The regulation that created the Duty Free Zone of Iquique considers payment by the Company of a fee for the concession it manages, equivalent to 15% of its perceived annual gross income. This amount goes in direct benefit of all the municipalities of the Region of Tarapaca and the new Region of Arica and Parinacota and it is delivered every year in the proportion established by the law.

As a matter of fact, the price paid by ZOFRI S.A. for the concession it administers does not go into the central coffers. Instead, it goes directly into the treasury of each municipality of the area through the delivery of a check every year, in the month of March.

This contribution represents a large impact on the cities' budgets, since it is very uncommon at a national level for municipalities to receive resources to finance their projects without having to apply for them at central government level.
